Thought pop-up
I sit down to work on an important presentation for work. Five minutes into working, a thought popped into my head, reminding me that a friend of mine has her University graduation today. Supposibily, the right thing to do would be to write down on a piece of paper a reminder to call and congratulate her so I wont forget to do so throughout the day… but… it seems pretty outrageous and a lot of effort to do such a task. What appears to be far easier is to grab my cell, send her a whataspp an make sure she knows that im thinking about her today.
I reach for my phone, open my whataspp and send her the harmless message. I realize that there was a group chat opened about a present we need to buy for another friends birthday, and another message from my cousin and so on and so on… 10 minutes pass an I find myself back to the presentation task. I open a video clip that I want to include in my presentation. The presenter in the video begins talking about something interesting which I have been waiting to write my next blog post about… the correct approach would be to write it down and when I get to the blog work later, I can go back to the link and train of thought. ..but… what actually happened is that I opened up my blog and quickly wanted to get it over with before I forgot. I finished with the blog post and I’m ready to get back to my work. I look down and see my phone flashing blue and a message received on my phone. I figure its my friend who graduated so I glance over to find its not her, but the group of girls buying the gift. I realize that 25 minutes has passed from the time I sat down to now and wow times flies by when you… TECH CONTROL.
